Too many photos on iPhone? Sort them before you delete

The short answer

If you have too many photos on iPhone and don’t want to delete them, you don’t have to yet. In PicWay, swipe right to keep and left to set aside. Set-aside photos stay in your library, and you can put them back anytime. When you have time, review them and confirm before anything is deleted.

How to do it

  1. Pick a set to start with

On PicWay’s Memories tab, pick from Memories by month, Memories by album, or Memories by place. Not sure where to start? Tap One at random under Next up.

  2. Swipe through them

By default, swipe right to Keep, left to Set aside, and up to Favorite. Swiped the wrong way? Undo appears right below the photo.

  3. Review in Set aside when you have time

Open Set aside and look through them again. Tap Put back at the top right of any you’ve changed your mind about.

  4. Delete after you confirm

When you really want to delete, iOS asks you to confirm. If you delete two or more at once, PicWay first asks you to confirm the count. Tap Continue deleting, and iOS asks you to confirm.

Why not delete right away when you have too many photos on iPhone?

You don’t have to decide right away. Set-aside photos are all still in your library, and you can look through them again when you have time. Before anything is really deleted, iOS asks you to confirm.

If you prefer it the other way, open PicWay’s settings, tap Review settings, and change Set Aside direction to the right.

How long does it take?

You don’t have to finish in one go. A little each day is fine. The flame in PicWay counts your streak, and next time you can pick another set.

Lots of similar shots, or videos taking up space?

You don’t have to swipe through similar shots and bursts one by one. You can clean them up group by group. If space is tight, see what to do when iPhone storage is full.
