How to turn a video into a Live Photo on iPhone

The short answer

To turn a video into a Live Photo, use PicWay: pick a video, drag the selection to the seconds you want, and tap Export. It’s up to 3.9 seconds by default, or tap No Time Limit to use the whole video. The Live Photo saves to the PicWay Conversions album in Photos.

After you turn a video into a Live Photo

It’s a regular Live Photo in your library. To make it move alongside other photos, use it in a moving Live Photo collage.

Going the other way, the Photos app can turn a Live Photo into a short video: open the Live Photo, tap the More button at the top right, then tap Save as Video (Apple’s guide).

Can I do it without opening PicWay?

Yes. Select a video in the Photos app, tap Share, and scroll to Live Photo.
